Jason Schafer

Jason’s background includes close to two decades of background in the mission critical datacenter industry. He has experience in the areas of construction, architecture, design, and testing while at the same time keeping in mind the importance of the operation and maintenance of the datacenter that cannot be understated or taken for granted. Jason is passionate about the importance of datacenter operations, maintenance, and design to not only include the “hard” facilities backend but that the IT environment should also coexist in a manner that allows for scalability at virtually any organization's size. Jason is responsible for the development and coordination of facility operations services as well as continued improvement of existing services. Prior to his current role at Maicom Facility Services, Jason was also responsible for similar services and strategy at Schneider Electric. Jason is also well-known for his role at 451 Research as Research Manager for its Datacenter Technologies practice. Jason is routinely a guest speaker at numerous, high-profile industry events and has been consulted by and quoted in journalistic publications such as Computerworld Magazine, Forbes, New York Construction Magazine, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. The foundation of Jason’s mission-critical experience includes service in the Naval Nuclear Power Program. After his military service he continued as a datacenter commissioning engineer / constructionmanager for Lee Technologies, where he managed datacenter projects for fortune 100 enterprises and various government entities. Jason attended North Carolina State University for Electrical Engineering and has certifications as aninfrared thermographer, qualified commissioning process provider from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and is an Accredited Tier Specialist from The Uptime Institute.
